Faith Is Surrender

Faith is not passive or inactive. It produces action. Faith in a political candidate is proven when we vote for him. Faith in an adviser is proven when we follow his advice. Faith in a doctor is proven when we follow his instructions. Those men may or may not be worthy of our faith. Faith in God is proven by surrender to Him. We are 100% wrong and He is 100% right. The only way we can have relationship with Him is to surrender our wrong and receive His right. Surrender to Him is not defeat. It is victory. It puts us on the winning side. Surrender to God is not a compromise. Surrender to God is surrender to rest, peace, love and blessing as well as surrender to His power and authority. Something is out of kilter when people claim to be Christians but there is no surrender.

Abram*s surrender: Genesis 12:4: So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

Samuel*s surrender: 1 Samuel 3:10: And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

Isaiah*s surrender: Isaiah 6:8: Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Jonah*s surrender after being swallowed by the fish: Jonah 3:3: So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days* journey.

Surrender of John the Baptist*s listeners: Luke 3:10: And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

Surrender of Peter*s listeners: Acts 2:37: Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Paul*s surrender: Acts 9:6: And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Our Surrender: Luke 9:23: And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Jesus pleads with us to surrender to Him.

Matthew 11:28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

John 6:37: All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Revelation 3:20: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Luke 18:22: Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
